Well finally after a busy summer of meeting new friends and exploring this beautiful province I have my blog ready! To start off I get to share a beautiful wedding of two very special people. I was so honored when Dana asked me to capture her special day and special it was! Filled with close family and friends (including my family). I’ve known Dana for some time now and recently met Billy, the wedding was so in intimate I felt like I’ve been hanging with this crowd for years! The day was filled with so much love that you couldn’t find one person without a huge smile from ear to ear. It was a perfect day and I was very happy to be part of it.
Dana painted her ring finger a different colour so that Billy would know what finger to put the ring onhow cute is she?
This cross (something old) is from Dana’s baptism
Dana’s mother performing a native “women’s ceremony” (sharing her life essence with her daughter as she prepares for marriage)
Dana comes from, and is surrounded by, a life of music. Dana herself is classically trained violinist and played in the Newfoundland symphony orchestra while studying on the island and Billy plays Bass. Rebecca, Dana’s sister, is an assistant professor at the university of South Carolina, holds a a Doctorate of Musical Arts a minor in musicology and a Masters degree in Pedagogy (lot of letters behind her name!). Brother in law (Jon) also has a Masters degree, is department head for music in a high school in Ann Arbor Michigan, and the school program has actually won Grammys! Suffice it to say that they are a talented bunch and we all enjoyed some beautiful music from Rebecca and Jon while Dana and Billy signed the register.
Billy made this sign and some VERY yummy marmalade for the wedding
Dana’s Aunt’s and cousins prepared and performed a skit which came with props, and even rewrote the “Da Doo Ron Ron” by the Crystals. Very fitting as Dana and Billy met while he was visiting his sister out east (who happened to be playing in a band with Dana). As it happens both Dana and Billy also turned out to be trail runners and Dana played the part of tour guide – showing Billy some East coast trails
A MAGICAL DAY! Thank you Dana and Billy for letting me be part of it! xo
